Roles of gap junctions, connexins and pannexins in epilepsy
Enhanced gap junctional communication (GJC) between neurons is considered a major factor underlying the neuronal synchrony driving seizure activity. In addition, the hippocampal sharp wave ripple complexes, associated with learning and seizures, are ...

Background and Purpose Notoginsenoside‐Fa (Noto‐Fa) is an emerging active compound derived from notoginseng with promise in treating cardiovascular diseases. The development of cardiovascular diseases is intricately linked to the damage of vascular endothelium and it is widely acknowledged that numerous chronic inflammation pathways, especially the ...

Regulation of connexin expression [PDF]
Gap junctions contain cell–cell communicating channels that consist of multimeric proteins called connexins and mediate the exchange of low-molecular-weight metabolites and ions between contacting cells.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have transformed cancer therapy, but their efficacy continues to be limited by immune‐related adverse events. Among these, ICI‐induced cardiac arrhythmias are increasingly recognised as a major adverse reaction, encompassing a broad spectrum of clinical phenotypes, including conduction blocks, atrial fibrillation and

Connexin-32 and Connexin-43 Immunoreactivity in Rodent Taste Buds [PDF]
Studies indicate that ATP is one of the primary neurotransmitters in taste transduction. ATP release occurs from taste cells via specific hemichannels such as pannexin/connexin hemichannels (Huang et al., 2007; Romanov et al., 2007).

The Modulating Role of Vitamin E Against Potassium Dichromate's Cardiotoxicity in Adult Albino Rat [PDF]
Introduction: One extremely hazardous inorganic chemical reagent is potassium dichromate (PD). Despite its genotoxic, immunotoxic, and carcinogenic effects, it is nevertheless frequently employed in industrial and laboratory settings.

Chd4/NuRD and ThPOK cooperate to maintain transcriptional repression and nuclear organization in adult cardiomyocytes. Chd4 loss reduces miR‐150‐5p, relieving repression of Sprr1a, while ThPOK loss further enhances Sprr1a activation, possibly through altered chromatin–lamina interactions.

Astrocytic gap junctions formed by connexin43 (Cx43) help maintain brain homeostasis. After mild traumatic brain injury (TBI), total cortical Cx43 increases and redistributes toward a soluble, non‐junctional pool with elevated hemichannel activity and increased phosphorylation at serine 368 (pCx43S368).
