The Occurrence of Mycotoxins in Beers from Retail Shops

open access: yesKvasný průmysl, 2017
In 2016, contents of mycotoxin deoxynivalenol, its metabolite deoxynivalenol-3-β-D-glucopyranoside and ochratoxin A, in beers from Czech, Polish and Slovak retail shops were studied. Totally, 30 beer samples were analyzed.

Imaging surface plasmon resonance for multiplex microassay sensing of mycotoxins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A prototype imaging surface plasmon resonance-based multiplex microimmunoassay for mycotoxins is described. A microarray of mycotoxin–protein conjugates was fabricated using a continuous flow microspotter device.

Trichothecenes NIV and DON modulate the maturation of murinedendritic cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Nivalenol (NIV) and Deoxynivalenol (DON), mycotoxins of the trichothecene family are considered very common food contaminants. In this work, we investigated whether the immunotoxic effects ascribed to these trichothecenes may be mediated by perturbations

Efficacy of Active Carbon towards the Absorption of Deoxynivalenol in Pigs

open access: yesToxins, 2014
In order to assess the in vivo efficacy of mycotoxin binders, specific toxicokinetic parameters should be measured according to European guidelines. For this purpose, an absorption model in pigs is described with emphasis on absorption kinetics.

Assessment of dried blood spots for multi-mycotoxin biomarker analysis in pigs and broiler chickens [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Dried blood spots (DBSs), a micro-sampling technique whereby a drop of blood is collected on filter paper has multiple advantages over conventional blood sampling regarding the sampling itself, as well as transportation and storage.

Synthesis and characterization of deoxynivalenol glucuronide: Its comparative immunotoxicity with deoxynivalenol

open access: yesFood and Chemical Toxicology, 2007
Deoxynivalenol (DON) is a mycotoxin commonly contaminating wheat, barley and corn. DON glucuronide (DONGLU) is a major DON metabolite. We synthesized and purified DONGLU and tested its immunotoxicity, hypothesizing that DONGLU would be much less toxic to K562 cells compared with DON.

The role of mycotoxins in the human exposome: Application of mycotoxin biomarkers in exposome-health studies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Mycotoxins are secondary metabolites produced by fungi that may contaminate different foods intended for human consumption, resulting in a widespread exposure worldwide. The novel exposome paradigm has the ambition to decipher the different environmental

Análises quali e quantitativas de micotoxinas em águas da cadeia produtiva do arroz por CCD e CCDAE

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2012
This study validated a simple and applied method for determining mycotoxins aflatoxin B1, aflatoxin B2, ochratoxin A, zearalenone and deoxynivalenol, in water from the rice production chain.

Investigation of the efficacy of mycotoxin-detoxifying additive on health and growth of newly-weaned pigs under deoxynivalenol challenges [PDF]

open access: yesAnimal Bioscience, 2021
Objective This study evaluated the effects of feeding diets naturally contaminated with deoxynivalenol (supplemental 2 mg/kg) on health, growth, and the effects of a mycotoxin-detoxifying additive in newly-weaned pigs. Methods Thirty-six pigs (27 day-old)

Metabolic profile, bioavailability and toxicokinetics of zearalenone-14-glucoside in rats after oral and intravenous administration by liquid chromatography high-resolution mass spectrometry and tandem mass spectrometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Zearalenone-14-glucoside (ZEN-14G), a key modified mycotoxin, has attracted a great deal of attention due to the possible conversion to its free form of zearalenone (ZEN) exerting toxicity.
