Dietary fats can influence egg production and egg nutritional quality in quails. In this study, different lipid sources were evaluated in combination with hydrolyzable tannins in diets for Japanese quails. The results showed that specific fat sources can improve production performance and modify the fatty acid composition and antioxidant capacity of ...

Enzymatic oxidation of ellagitannin and a new ellagitannin metabolite from Camellia japonica leaves
Abstract Polyphenols in the leaves of Camellia japonica L. at different stages of growth were analyzed by HPLC. Pedunculagin [2,3; 4,6-bis-( S )-hexahydroxydiphenoyl- d -glucose] was the major polyphenol in the youngest leaves. The levels of this compound and (+)-catechin decreased as the leaves matured.

The Effects and Mechanisms of Pomegranate on Regulating Lipid Metabolism
This study established a high‐fat diet‐induced hyperlipidemia rat model to investigate the lipid‐lowering effects of pomegranate. Pomegranate intervention significantly reduced serum total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), and low‐density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL‐C) levels, while alleviating hepatic steatosis by decreasing liver weight and fat ...

Tannin Phytocomplex Improves IBS‐D Symptoms and Gut‐Brain Markers: Prospective Pilot Study
In adults with IBS‐D, a 60‐day tannin‐based supplementation was associated with improvements in gastrointestinal scores, stool patterns, and psychological measures. Mechanistic readouts showed lower zonulin, SCFA shifts toward butyrate, and normalization of hydrogen breath tests, supporting a broad, barrier, and microbiota‐oriented intervention profile.
