Dysregulation of the KLF9/TXNRD2 Axis Leads to Mitochondrial DNA Oxidation and NLRP3 Inflammasome Activation in Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 9, September 2026.
In ulcerative colitis, the transcription factor KLF9 is abnormally overexpressed and inhibits TXNRD2 transcription. As a key mitochondrial antioxidant enzyme, the loss of TXNRD2 leads to disruption of mitochondrial redox homeostasis, resulting in excessive accumulation of mtROS and mitochondrial DNA damage.

Medicarpin Mediates the Protective Effect of Cell Pyroptosis Against Sepsis‐Induced Liver Injury by NLRP3/GSDMD/Caspase‐1 Axis

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 9, September 2026.
Med reduces pyroptosis in LPS‐induced THLE‐2 cells by inactivating NLRP3/GSDMD/caspase‐1, thereby exerting a protective effect in sepsis‐induced liver injury. ABSTRACT The liver is a decisive organ that is damaged by sepsis. Medicarpin (Med) is a principal wing‐type final product of 5‐deoxyisoflavone sub‐branch in M.

Pyroptosis‐Amplified Decoy Nanovesicles Orchestrate Pyroptotic Antigen Explosion and Endogenous Immune Revitalization for Potentiating Tumour Immunotherapy

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 15, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Current advances in tumour immunotherapy remain constrained by inadequate cytotoxic T lymphocyte activation and the immunosuppressive tumour microenvironment. Innovative strategies are urgently required to enhance anti‐tumour immune potency for clinical improvements in immunotherapy‐resistant malignancies.

Proteomics‐Based Identification of the Pyroptosis‐Related Biomarker PCSK9 and Its Association With the Pathogenesis of Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, Volume 42, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a common autoimmune disease, and early diagnosis is critical for effective treatment. This study aims to identify potential biomarkers related to pyroptosis through serum proteomics analysis, offering new insights for the early diagnosis of RA.

RBMX Transcriptionally Repressed by EZH2‐Associated H3K27me3 Modification Attenuates Pyroptosis in Renal Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury via Regulating SIRT3/NLRP3 Inflammasome Activation

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, Volume 42, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Ischemic reperfusion injury (IRI) to kidney is a significant clinical factor in acute kidney injury (AKI). This study aimed to investigate the new role of RNA‐binding motif protein X‐linked (RBMX), a modulator of m6A methylation, in renal IRI and to examine the associated regulatory mechanisms. An in vitro renal IRI model was established using
