Antioxidant indices and amino acid composition of phenolic containing Lima beans (Phaseolus lunatus) after simulated human gastrointestinal digestion

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Studies, 2019
The present investigation was designed to characterize the phenolic profile of Lima beans (Phaseolus Lunatus) and also to evaluate the antioxidant indices: total phenolic content (TPC), total flavonoid content (TFC), ferric reducing antioxidant power ...

MicroRNA‐941 Acts as a Novel Prognostic Predictor and Oncogenic Driver in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Upregulation of miR‐941 was a promising diagnostic and prognostic biomarker for CRC patients. Inhibition of miR‐941 significantly suppressed CRC cellular events and triggered ferroptosis. The oncogenic functions of miR‐941 were mediated through targeting TRPS1.

UNVEILING THE NUTRITIONAL POTENTIAL OF STAR FRUIT (AVERRHOA CARAMBOLA): IN VITRO BIOACCESSIBILITY STUDY [PDF]

open access: yesQuímica Nova
A method was developed for quantifying the concentrations of Ca, Fe, Mg, and Zn in star fruit. An in vitro assay was used to evaluate the bioaccessibility of these elements after a simulated gastrointestinal digestion.

Development of an Inchworm‐Like Dual‐Balloon‐Assisted Colonoscopic Robot Based on a Two‐Segment Extensible Continuum Section

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This work presents an inchworm‐like dual‐balloon‐assisted colonoscopic robot (IDCR) based on a rod‐driven two‐segment continuum section. The IDCR enables the active straightening of the sigmoid colon through an inchworm‐like locomotion strategy, thereby avoiding loop formation.

The Effects of Cellulose on α-Amylase and α-Glucosidase Inhibition by Aronia melanocarpa Phenolic Compounds After Simulated Digestion

open access: yesMolecules
The interaction with various food matrix constituents can affect the beneficial effects of phenolic compounds in the gastrointestinal tract. In this study, the effect of cellulose on the potential of phenolic compounds from Aronia melanocarpa after ...

Molecular mechanism of Xanthotoxol against gastric cancer: A comprehensive study integrating network pharmacology, computer simulations, and experimental validation

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Our study systematically explored the anti‐gastric cancer (GC) mechanism of Xanthotoxol (Xan), a natural active phytochemical, using an integrated strategy of network pharmacology, molecular simulation, and experimental validation. First, we identified 39 hub genes associated with gastric cancer using weighted gene co‐expression network analysis (WGCNA)

Influence of variety, storage, and simulated gastrointestinal digestion on chemical composition and bioactivity of polysaccharides from sweet cherry and apple tree fruits

open access: yesCogent Food & Agriculture, 2015
This work examined the effect of extraction regime (hot water vs. simulated in vitro gastrointestinal digestion) and postharvest storage on the chemical composition, molecular weight, and bioactive properties of polysaccharides obtained from sweet ...
