Systematic Review with Meta‐Analysis of Biofluid Markers for Huntington's Disease

open access: yesMovement Disorders, Volume 40, Issue 12, Page 2578-2595, December 2025.
Eight Huntington's Disease Biofluid Markers show Meta‐Analytic Significance Across HD‐ISS Stages. Meta‐analyses were conducted for two types of biomarkers: Different from demographically‐matched healthy controls and *Showing change over time. Abstract Primary therapeutic objectives for Huntington's disease (HD) necessitate continued therapy for a long ...

The associations of cholesterol metabolism and plasma plant sterols with all-cause and cardiovascular mortality[S]

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2010
Moderately elevated levels of plasma plant sterols have been suspected to be causally involved in atherosclerosis. The aim of this study was to investigate whether plant sterols and other markers of sterol metabolism predicted all-cause and ...

Miglustat in Alzheimer's Disease Associated With Heterozygous NPC1 Mutation: Exploratory Case Series and Preliminary Findings

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neurology, Volume 32, Issue 11, November 2025.
Three AD patients sharing the same heterozygous NPC1 mutation were orally treated with miglustat for 12 months and underwent monthly clinical and neuropsychological evaluations, brain amyloid‐PET imaging, and biochemical analyses on plasma and CSF. All three patients achieved clinical stability, showed a sustained reduction in serum oxysterol levels ...

RPL6 Interacts with HMGCS1 to Stabilize HIF‐1α by Promoting Cholesterol Production in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 38, October 13, 2025.
The study found that RPL6 is frequently upregulated in HCC tissues with extrahepatic metastasis. Elevated RPL6 bound to and increased the stability of HMGCS1 mRNA, thereby enhancing intracellular cholesterol levels. Subsequently, increased cholesterol promotes cancer metastasis in HCC by stabilizing HIF‐1α protein.

Brain cholesterol in normal and pathological aging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Aberrations in cerebral cholesterol homeostasis can lead to severe neurological diseases. Recent findings strengthen the link between brain cholesterol metabolism and factors involved in synaptic plasticity, a process essential for learning and memory ...

Early and brain region-specific decrease of de novo cholesterol biosynthesis in Huntington's disease: A cross-validation study in Q175 knock-in mice

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2017
Cholesterol precursors and cholesterol levels are reduced in brain regions of Huntington's disease (HD) mice. Here we quantified the rate of in vivo de novo cholesterol biosynthesis in the HD brain.

Microbial Gene Profiling and Targeted Metabolomics in Fecal Samples of Dogs With Chronic Enteropathy With or Without Increased Dysbiosis Index

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Volume 39, Issue 5, September/October 2025.
ABSTRACT Background In previous studies, only a subset of dogs with chronic enteropathy (CE) had an increased dysbiosis index (DI) or altered fecal metabolites or both, suggesting differences in underlying intestinal pathophysiology between these subsets.
