From Bug to Feature: Harnessing Cross‐Sensitivity for Multiparametric Luminescence Sensing
Cross‐sensitivity in luminescence sensing is reframed from a limitation into a resource for multiparametric detection. Using ruby microspheres as a model system, cross‐sensitivity is quantitatively assessed and exploited through linear discriminant analysis, enabling simultaneous, correction‐free pressure and temperature sensing with a single ...

YIPF3 and YIPF4 regulate autophagic turnover of the Golgi apparatus
The degradation of organelles by autophagy is essential for cellular homeostasis. The Golgi apparatus has recently been demonstrated to be degraded by autophagy, but little is known about how the Golgi is recognized by the forming autophagosome.

An effector of the Irish potato famine pathogen antagonizes a host autophagy cargo receptor [PDF]
Plants use autophagy to safeguard against infectious diseases. However, how plant pathogens interfere with autophagy-related processes is unknown. Here, we show that PexRD54, an effector from the Irish potato famine pathogen Phytophthora infestans, binds

Autophagy is a cellular degradation process involved in, for example, immune responses to pathogens and neurodegeneration. To identify modulators of autophagy, we developed a microscopy‐based screening assay and identified previously unknown autophagy‐modulating activities in known drugs and natural products from myxobacteria and fungi.

A guide to chemokines and their receptors [PDF]
The chemokines (or chemotactic cytokines) are a large family of small, secreted proteins that signal through cell surface G‐protein coupled heptahelical chemokine receptors.

Genetic rearrangements resulting in the expression of KMT2A fusion alleles can lead to dramatic transcriptional disturbances that contribute to the onset of acute leukaemias. Fortunately, menin inhibition has emerged as a promising new class of targeted therapy.

ALS-FTLD associated mutations of SQSTM1 impact on Keap1-Nrf2 signalling [PDF]
The transcription factor Nrf2 and its repressor protein Keap1 play key roles in the regulation of antioxidant stress responses and both Keap1-Nrf2 signalling and oxidative stress have been implicated in the pathogenesis of the ALS-FTLD spectrum of ...
