Genome organization by loop extrusion [PDF]
All livings cells propagate in the same way - they duplicate their chromosomes and divide into two daughter cells, each containing one copy of each chromosome. Because of the extreme length of chromosomes, their two copies have be compacted in order to be successfully segregated from each other.

Compaction and segregation of sister chromatids via active loop extrusion [PDF]
The mechanism by which chromatids and chromosomes are segregated during mitosis and meiosis is a major puzzle of biology and biophysics. Using polymer simulations of chromosome dynamics, we show that a single mechanism of loop extrusion by condensins can

Fundamental roles of chromatin loop extrusion in antibody class switching [PDF]
Antibody class switch recombination (CSR) in B lymphocytes replaces immunoglobulin heavy chain locus (Igh) Cμ constant region exons (CHs) with one of six CHs lying 100-200 kb downstream1. Each CH is flanked upstream by an I promoter and long repetitive switch (S) region1.

The physical chemistry of interphase loop extrusion. [PDF]
Abstract Loop extrusion constitutes a universal mechanism of genome organization, whereby structural maintenance of chromosomes (SMC) protein complexes load onto the chromatin fiber and generate DNA loops of increasingly-larger sizes until their eventual release.

Loops and the activity of loop extrusion factors constrain chromatin dynamics. [PDF]
The relationship between chromatin structure and dynamics is incompletely understood. Here experimental and computational approaches are combined to reveal that looping interactions impose constraints on chromatin mobility while the ATP-dependent INO80 chromatin remodeler plays an important role in energy-dependent chromatin dynamics.

Function and Evolution of the Loop Extrusion Machinery in Animals. [PDF]
Structural maintenance of chromosomes (SMC) complexes are essential proteins found in genomes of all cellular organisms. Essential functions of these proteins, such as mitotic chromosome formation and sister chromatid cohesion, were discovered a long time ago.

Cohesin is a key organizer of chromatin folding in eukaryotic cells. The two main activities of this ring-shaped protein complex are the maintenance of sister chromatid cohesion and the establishment of long-range DNA–DNA interactions through the process
