Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Loop Extrusion Mediates Physiological IgH Locus Contraction For RAG Scanning [PDF]
RAG endonuclease initiates IgH V(D)J recombination in pro-B cells by binding a JH-recombination signal sequence (RSS) within a recombination center (RC) and then linearly scanning upstream chromatin, presented by cohesin-mediated loop extrusion, for ...

Unique territorial and compartmental organization of chromosomes in the holocentric silkworm
Hallmarks of multicellular eukaryotic genome organization are chromosome territories, compartments, and loop-extrusion-mediated structures, including TADs. However, these have mainly been observed in model organisms, and most eukaryotes remain unexplored.

Condensin DC loads and spreads from recruitment sites to create loop-anchored TADs in C. elegans
Condensins are molecular motors that compact DNA via linear translocation. In Caenorhabditis elegans, the X-chromosome harbors a specialized condensin that participates in dosage compensation (DC).

A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,

It’s all in the numbers: Cohesin stoichiometry
Cohesin, a structural maintenance of chromosome (SMC) complex, organizes chromatin into three-dimensional structures by threading chromatin into loops and stabilizing long-range chromatin interactions. Four subunits in a 1:1:1:1 ratio compose the cohesin

We develop a data‐driven method to derive the mathematical expressions of the Flory–Huggins interaction parameter χ for the swelling behavior of temperature–responsive hydrogels. Starting from initial assumptions of χ, our workflow combines Bayesian optimization, Flory–Rehner theory, and symbolic regression to generate candidate χ expressions.

The role of loop extrusion in enhancer-mediated gene activation
Gene expression patterns in complex multicellular organisms are regulated by enhancers, which communicate with their target gene promoters in three-dimensional (3D) chromatin structures. Despite advances in our understanding of the mechanisms that organize mammalian genomes into compartments and topologically associating domains (TADs), it is not well ...

Transmembranous piston extrusion after stapedotomy: A rare complication
To report an adverse event after successful otosclerosis surgery: piston extrusion through the tympanic membrane, and its surgical solution. Four patients with a history of stapes surgery in context of otosclerosis presented with recurrent conductive ...
