Icariin Enhances the Enzymatic Activity of N‐acetylgalactosaminidase to Augment Akkermansia Abundance in Gut Microbiota for Improved PD‐1 Blockade Efficacy in Tumor Suppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Icariin promoted the growth of Akk by enhancing the activity of N‐acetylgalactosaminidase (Amuc_0920), which enhanced mucin utilization and provided a favorable nutrient environment for bacterial growth. This icariin‐mediated enrichment of Akk further reshaped the tumor microenvironment and promoted CD8+ T cell infiltration, ultimately synergizing with

Myeloid Derived Suppressor Cells Expansion Persists After Early ART and May Affect CD4 T Cell Recovery

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2019
Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSC) are expanded during HIV-1 infection and correlated with disease progression. MDSC expand in the early phase of primary infection depending on TRAIL level.

Comment on "microscopic theory of network glasses"

open access: yes, 2003
Calorimetric experiments on network glasses provide information on the ergodicity (landscape) temperature of supercooled liquids and can be compared with a recent theory developed by Hall and Wolynes [PRL90, 085505 (2003)]Comment: 2 pages, 2 EPS figures ...

Changes induced by UV radiation in the presence of sodium benzoate in films formulated with polyvinyl alcohol and carboxymethyl cellulose [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This work was focused on: i) developing single and blend films based on carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) studying their properties, ii) analyzing the interactions between CMC and PVOH and their modifications UV-induced in the ...

O‐GlcNAcylated TAP1 Impairs Antigen Presentation and Promotes Immune Evasion in Bladder Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This article unveils a critical mechanism of immune evasion in bladder cancer, which the O‐GlcNAc modification of TAP1 disrupts antigen presentation. This modification triggers HLA‐A degradation, shielding tumor cells from CD8+ T cell attack. The findings highlight targeting this pathway as a promising therapeutic avenue to sensitize tumors to ...

Melt homogenization and self-organization of chalcogenides glasses: evidence of sharp rigidity, stress and nanoscale phase separation transitions in the GexSe100-x binary

open access: yes, 2011
A Raman profiling method is used to monitor growth of GexSe100-x melts and reveals a two step process of homogenization. Resulting homogeneous glasses show the non-reversing enthalpy at Tg, {\Delta}Hnr(x), to show a square-well like variation with x ...

Androgen Receptor‐Induced Lactoferrin Accelerates Prostate Tumorigenesis Through Modulating Ferroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that transcription factor androgen receptor (AR) directly binds the LF promoter, driving lactoferrin overexpression to promote ferritin (FTH1/FTL) upregulation and inhibit p53‐ALOX12‐mediated ferroptosis in prostate cancer. Lactoferrin could be a new potential therapeutic target in prostate cancer.

COX-2 inhibition improves immunotherapy and is associated with decreased numbers of myeloid-derived suppressor cells in mesothelioma. Celecoxib influences MDSC function [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Background: Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSC) are a heterogeneous population of immature cells that accumulates in tumour-bearing hosts. These cells are induced by tumour-derived factors (e.g.

Targeting m6A Reader YTHDF1 Enhances Antitumor Immunity and Potentiates Anti‐PD‐L1 Efficacy in Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The m6A reader YTHDF1 drives intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) progression by remodeling the tumor immune microenvironment. YTHDF1 promotes MDSC recruitment via activation of m6A‐FOSL2‐CXCL6/CXCR2 axis, thereby suppressing CD8+ T cell infiltration and function.

Staphylococcal Enterotoxins Dose-Dependently Modulate the Generation of Myeloid-Derived Suppressor Cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, 2018
Staphylococcus aureus is one of the major human bacterial pathogens causing a broad spectrum of serious infections. Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSC) represent an innate immune cell subset capable of regulating host-pathogen interactions, yet their
