Disease Site‐Specific Outcomes in p16‐Positive Non‐Oropharyngeal Mucosal Head and Neck Cancer

open access: yesHead &Neck, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives To report disease‐free survival (DFS) in p16‐positive non‐oropharyngeal head‐and‐neck squamous‐cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Methods Curatively‐treated non‐oropharyngeal HNSCC (2009–2021) were reviewed. DFS was compared among p16‐positive, p16‐negative, and p16‐untested cases for the overall cohort and by disease site.

Changing biosynthesis of terpenoid percursors in rice through synthetic biology

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2023
Many highly valued chemicals in the pharmaceutical, biotechnological, cosmetic, and biomedical industries belong to the terpenoid family. Biosynthesis of these chemicals relies on polymerization of Isopentenyl di-phosphate (IPP) and/or dimethylallyl ...

The T‐Cell Response Mechanism in Human Papillomavirus‐Associated Cervical Cancer and New Strategies for Immunotherapy

open access: yesiNew Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a double‐stranded DNA virus that infects human skin and mucosal tissues exclusively. The German scientist Harald zur Hausen was awarded the 2008 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his discovery of the link between HPV infection and cervical cancer.

Image_8_The Mevalonate Pathway Is Important for Growth, Spore Production, and the Virulence of Phytophthora sojae.TIF

open access: yes, 2022
The mevalonate (MVA) pathway in eukaryotic organisms produces isoprenoids, sterols, ubiquinone, and dolichols. These molecules are vital for diverse cellular functions, ranging from signaling to membrane integrity, and from post-translational ...

Mitochondrial Targeting of MVA Pathway Triggers Severe Inhibition of Post-Squalene Cholesterol Biosynthesis: Transcriptomic and Proteomic Insights in Yeast

open access: yesMolecules
Expression of the mevalonate (MVA) pathway in yeast mitochondria is deployed at commercial scale for production of squalene, because mitochondria contain abundant acetyl-CoA, the starting molecule of the MVA pathway.

Dynamics of Monoterpene Formation in Spike Lavender Plants

open access: yesMetabolites, 2017
The metabolic cross-talk between the mevalonate (MVA) and the methylerythritol phosphate (MEP) pathways was analyzed in spike lavender (Lavandula latifolia Med) on the basis of 13CO2-labelling experiments using wildtype and transgenic plants ...

Diverging perspectives on emerging mental health symptoms: Multi‐informant discrepancies and their associated determinants across the transition to adolescence in the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development Study

open access: yesJCPP Advances, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The transition from childhood to adolescence is marked by significant developmental, social, and contextual changes that present practical challenges for the measurement of emerging mental health symptoms. This study explores transdiagnostic symptoms across three core dimensions from the Achenbach system of empirically based ...

Fetal Heart Rate at 12 Weeks' Gestation and the Risk of Preterm Birth

open access: yesJournal of Ultrasound in Medicine, EarlyView.
Objectives To prospectively validate the association between fetal heart rate (FHR) at the 12‐week scan and the risk of preterm birth (PTB), including spontaneous preterm birth (sPTB). Methods This prospective cohort study included 1276 singleton pregnancies undergoing routine first‐trimester screening at 11–13 + 6 weeks' gestation and followed until ...
