B4GALNT2 and xenotransplantation: A newly appreciated xenogeneic antigen [PDF]
Analysis of non-Gal antibody induced after pig-to-baboon cardiac xenotransplantation identified the glycan produced by porcine beta-1,4-N-acetyl-galactosaminyltransferase 2 (B4GALNT2) as an immunogenic xenotransplantation antigen.

Organ Transplantation: Current Status, Challenges, and Future Prospects
Organ transplantation success relies on precise modulation of the alloimmune response across distinct temporal phases of rejection. Hyperacute rejection results from preformed antibodies activating complement and causing thrombosis, while acute rejection involves T cell‐ and antibody‐mediated mechanisms that drive endothelial activation and ...

Replication of H9 influenza viruses in the human ex vivo respiratory tract, and the influence of neuraminidase on virus release [PDF]
H9N2 viruses are the most widespread influenza viruses in poultry in Asia. We evaluated the infection and tropism of human and avian H9 influenza virus in the human respiratory tract using ex vivo respiratory organ culture.

Good nutrition in pregnancy and early life plays a key role in shaping the offspring gut microbiota, which supports healthy growth, immune maturation, and neurodevelopment. Poor maternal and early‐life diets can disrupt this process, increasing the risk of obesity, undernutrition, and disease later in life.

Chemo-enzymatic synthesis of Neu5Gc-containing sialylated lactulose
Purpose: To synthesize novel sialylated lactuloses, namely, Neu5Gc-α2,3-lactulose and Neu5Gc-α2,6-lactulose.Methods: ManNGc was chemically synthesized from commercially available N-acetylmannosaime (ManNAc), which was used as the donor substrate to synthesize α-(2→3) linkage and α-(2→6) linkage sialyllactulose from lactulose via sialyltransferases ...

Reply to Mackenzie: A comparison of Neu5Gc and α-gal xenoantigens [PDF]
We appreciate the thoughtful comments of K. J. Mackenzie (1) regarding our findings, concerning how a red meat-derived glycan can promote inflammation and cancer progression (2). At first glance, there do indeed appear to be very close similarities between the nonhuman sialic acid N-glycolylneuraminic acid (Neu5Gc) antigen we are describing and the ...

Identification of TPRA1 as a Novel Receptor and Predictive Biomarker for Oncolytic Virus M1
This study identifies transmembrane protein adipocyte‐associated 1 (TPRA1) as a novel receptor for oncolytic virus M1 (OVM). TPRA1's ectodomain binds OVM particles, while its intracellular domain facilitates virus internalization, promoting efficient viral entry.
