Activation of OPA1 Processing in Differentiated Myoblast Cells
Mitochondria are eukaryotic cellular organelles that play a role in energy production, apoptosis, integrated stress response, and aging. Mitochondrial dynamics is the physical fusion (interconnection) and fission (fragmentation) of mitochondria within a ...

The Role of ATAD3A and SLC25 Proteins in OPA1 Function
OPA1 regulates cristae structure and mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) maintenance. Recently, our lab identified ATAD3A and SLC25 proteins as OPA1 interactors.

GSK3β drives early diabetic tubulopathy via TFEB‐mediated mitochondrial dysfunction
Mitochondrial dysfunction, including mitochondrial biogenesis, mitophagy, dynamics and oxidative stress, occurs in the early stages of diabetic tubulopathy, which precede proteinuria and renal histological changes. GSK3β is a potential novel biomarker for the prediction of diabetic tubulopathy.

Data‐Independent Acquisition Mass Spectrometry in Tumor Classification and Cancer Biomarker Research
Abstract Cancer treatment is far from optimal also because current classification systems do not reflect the complex molecular status of the tumor and its phenotype in sufficient detail. To construct molecular tumor classifiers, omics tools provide complex molecular data reflecting many aspects from genotype to phenotype.

Dominant optic atrophy (DOA) is the most commonly inherited optic neuropathy. The majority of DOA is caused by mutations in the OPA1 gene, which encodes a dynamin-related GTPase located to the mitochondrion.

In breast cancer, the inner mitochondrial membrane fusion protein Optic Atrophy 1 (OPA1) is upregulated and its inhibition reverses acquired chemoresistance. However, it remains unclear whether OPA1 inhibition also targets normal breast cells.

Discovery of PHB1 as a Novel Candidate Gene in Dominant Optic Atrophy
A heterozygous PHB1 missense variant (p.Ser147Phe) segregates with autosomal dominant optic atrophy in a multi‐generation family. Structural and cellular analyses suggest altered mitochondrial dynamics, identifying PHB1 as a novel candidate gene for hereditary optic neuropathy. ABSTRACT Hereditary optic neuropathies comprise a genetically heterogeneous

OPA1-associated disorders: Phenotypes and pathophysiology
The OPA1 gene, encoding a dynamin-like mitochondrial GTPase, is involved in autosomal dominant optic atrophy (ADOA, OMIM #165500). ADOA, also known as Kjer\u27s optic atrophy, affects retinal ganglion cells and the axons forming the optic nerve, leading ...
