Immunocytochemical Studies on Lipid Droplet-Surface Proteins in Adrenal Cells
Perilipin and ADRP, located on the surface of intracellular lipid droplets, are proposed to be involved in adipocyte lipid metabolism. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of PKA and PKC activities on the distribution of perilipin ...

In adipocytes, perilipin coats and protects the central lipid droplet, which stores triacylglycerol. Alternative mRNA splicing gives rise to perilipin A and B.

Translocation of hormone-sensitive lipase and perilipin upon lipolytic stimulation of rat adipocytes
Adipocyte lipolysis was compared with hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL)/perilipin subcellular distribution and perilipin phosphorylation using Western blot analysis.

Perilipin2 depletion causes lipid droplet enlargement in the ovarian corpus luteum in mice
Lipid droplets (LDs) are endoplasmic reticulum-derived organelles that store neutral lipids (mostly triglycerides and cholesterol esters) within a phospholipid monolayer and appear in most eukaryotic cells.

PLIN5‐FKBP8 tethers lipid droplets to mitochondria to counteract Ang II‐induced lipotoxicity. ABSTRACT Chronic kidney disease (CKD) remains a major global health challenge. Angiotensin II (Ang II)‐induced lipotoxicity is an important contributor to podocyte injury.

The Characterization of a Putative Perilipin-5 Splice Variant
Lipid droplets, or LDs, are very important and dynamic organelles in cells. LDs are stores of fat for use in metabolism, membrane construction, and signaling.

Lipid droplets (LD) act as cellular ‘garbage trucks’ that transport cytosolic protein aggregates to the vacuole for degradation in yeast. Protein aggregates are docked to lipid droplets in a triacylglycerol‐dependent manner, transported through the cytoplasm, and transferred to the insoluble protein deposit (IPOD) at the vacuole.

Characterization of a Perilipin‐5 Splice Variant
Perilipin‐5, the newest member of the perilipin family of lipid droplet proteins, has been found to be expressed in oxidative tissues, specifically heart, brown adipose tissue, and fasted liver. This work seeks to characterize a novel splice variant for perilipin‐5 we have termed Perilipin‐5B.

p‐STAT3‐positive cells in metabolically relevant peripheral organs and tissues from mice administered with recombinant CNTF (0.3 mg/kg). Abstract Administration of ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF) reduces food intake and body weight in both humans and experimental animals, where it also ameliorates hyperglycemia, hyperinsulinemia, and dyslipidemia ...

Perilipins: Current perspectives on the role in cardiovascular diseases
The perilipin (PLIN) protein family serves as key structural and regulatory proteins on the surface of lipid droplets (LDs), which in turn ensures the storage and mobilization of fatty acids (FAs) in cardiac cells, thereby promoting FAs oxidation and playing a central role in the regulation of cardiomyocytes.
