Canonical and non‐canonical functions of proteins regulating mitochondrial dynamics in mammalian physiology

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Mitochondria are highly dynamic organelles that continuously remodel their architecture through coordinated cycles of fusion and fission. This review examines the four key GTPases that orchestrate mitochondrial dynamics in mammals: MFN1, MFN2, OPA1, and DRP1.

Identification of Perilipin 5 Interaction Partners

open access: yes, 2015
Perilipin 5 is one of the more recently discovered in the PAT protein family. Several studies on this protein have shown that it resides in multiple intracellular locations such as the endoplasmic reticulum, the cytosol, the mitochondria, and most ...

BMP6 programmed C2C12 cells exhibit abundance of lipid droplet tethered Perilipin.

open access: yes, 2014
(A) Confocal images of C2C12 cells stimulated with or without BMP6 or BMP7 (250 ng/mL) for two days followed by adipogenic differentiation. Representative individual and merged images are shown for Hoechst (nuclear stain), CellMask Green (cytoplasmic ...

Short‐Term Unacylated Ghrelin Administration Improves Pyruvate Tolerance Without Chronically Altering Skeletal Muscle, Liver, or Adipose Tissue Insulin Response in Healthy Rats

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 21, 15 November 2026.
Unacylated ghrelin (unAG) has been previously shown to acutely increase fatty acid oxidation (FAO) in skeletal muscle. 5 days of unAG administration to healthy male rats improved pyruvate tolerance, however this was not associated with changes in hepatic glucose‐production associated proteins.

Plant‐Derived Probiotics From Fermented Foods: Current Evidence on Antiviral Mechanisms and Gut–Lung Axis Modulation

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 6, November 2026.
Plant‐derived probiotics from fermented foods exert anti‐respiratory virus effects via immune regulation, antiviral metabolites, and gut–lung axis, highlighting their advantages, key technologies, and application prospects. ABSTRACT Respiratory viral infections represent a major global public health threat, causing widespread morbidity, mortality, and ...

The role of Perilipin 5 in pathological myocardial remodeling

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology
Pathological cardiac remodeling (REM), caused by various pathological factors and characterized by changes in cardiac structure and geometry, is strongly associated with heart failure (HF). It damages cardiac tissue, alters energy metabolism, increases oxidative stress, and cause matrix metalloproteinase activation, cardiomyocyte hypertrophy, and ...

PAG increased phosphorylated PKA substrate, perilipin and hormone sensitive lipase (HSL) in rat adipocytes.

open access: yes, 2013
(A) Lysates of adipocytes treated with 200 µmol/L PAG were separated by SDS-PAGE on low-Bis concentration gels and underwent immunoblot analysis with an anti-perilipin antibody.

Microarrays, antiobesity and the liver

open access: yesAnnals of Hepatology, 2004
In this review, the microarray technology and especially oligonucleotide arrays are exemplified with a practical example taken from the perilipin-/- mice and using the dChip software, available for non-lucrative purposes.

Effect of leptin on porcine adipocytes mRNA expression of lipid droplet related protein and adipogenetic related enzyme

open access: yes浙江大学学报. 农业与生命科学版, 2009
To investigate the effect of leptin on porcine adipocytes mRNA expression of lipid droplet related protein (perilipin, ADRP, TIP47) and adipogenetic related enzyme (FAS, SCD α, ACC α), the adipocytes were treated for 3, 6 h with 0, 50, 100, 150 nmol·L-1 ...

Characterization of a perilipin 5 splice variant

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, 2013
The perilipins are a family of five related genes that code for proteins which play seminal roles in lipid storage. At least one of these proteins (perilipin 1) has been shown to have several truncated forms that arise through differential mRNA splicing.
