Investigation of the post-polyketide synthase (PKS) modifications during spinosyn A biosynthesis in Saccharopolyspora spinosa [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
textDiverse biological activities of polyketide natural products are often associated with specific structural motifs, biosynthetically introduced after construction of the polyketide core. Therefore, investigation of such "post-polykektide synthase

Structural characterization of iterative polyketide synthases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Polyketide synthases are large multi-domain proteins found in bacterial and fungal species that synthesize structurally complex compounds called polyketides.

The biosynthesis of some bacterial and fungal polyketide metabolites [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Methylmalonyl-CoA is a key building block in the biosynthesis of propionate derived polyketide metabolites. There are several known metabolic sources of methylmalonyl-CoA, e.g. succinyl-CoA (citric acid cycle), valine and isoleudne.

General summary of type II polyketide biosynthesis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The key steps in type II polyketide biosynthesis—priming of the minimal polyketide synthase, extension of the polyketide chain by the ketosynthase α/β heterodimer to generate the poly-β-ketone intermediate, cyclization and aromatization of the poly-β ...

Exploring the Roles of Tuna‐Associated Acinetobacter sp. YFT067: Implications for Host Health and Metabolism

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This study firstly isolated a tuna‐derived gut probiotic Acinetobacter seifertii YFT067. Dietary administration of YFT067 played significant roles in promoting growth performance, SCFAs production, lipid absorption, and metabolism of the host, indicating YFT067 as a promising probiotic candidate for enhancing tuna aquaculture productivity through ...

Adaptive Genomic Divergence Across Altitudes in Capsella bursa‐pastoris

open access: yesBiological Diversity, EarlyView.
Genomic divergence was observed between high‐altitude and low‐altitude populations of Capsella bursa‐pastoris in China, consistent with an important role of ecological factors. Candidate adaptive loci associated with enhanced energy metabolism, photoprotection, and growth plasticity under altitudinal stress were identified.

Recombinatorial biosynthesis of polyketides

open access: yesJournal of Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2012
Abstract Modular polyketide synthases (PKSs) from Streptomyces and related genera of bacteria produce many important pharmaceuticals. A program called CompGen was developed to carry out in silico homologous recombination between gene clusters encoding PKSs and determine whether recombinants have cluster architectures compatible with the ...

Structure determination of a 4-pyrone from the liverwort Plagiochila bifaria (Sw.) Lindenb. (Plagiochilaceae) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The centenary of the presentation in 1907 of the "polyketide" hypothesis by Collie, along with his use of a 4-pyrone as an example, is marked by reporting the discovery and isolation of 2-(3,4-dimethoxyphenethyl)-6-methyl-4-pyrone from <i> ...

The Crystal Structure of the actIII Actinorhodin Polyketide Reductase: Proposed Mechanism for ACP and Polyketide Binding. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We have determined the 2.5 Å crystal structure of an active, tetrameric Streptomyces coelicolor type II polyketide ketoreductase (actIII) with its bound cofactor, NADP+.
