Nucleoredoxin Plays a Key Role in the Maintenance of Retinal Pigmented Epithelium Differentiation
Nucleoredoxin (Nrx) belongs to the Thioredoxin protein family and functions in redox-mediated signal transduction. It contains the dithiol active site motif Cys-Pro-Pro-Cys and interacts and regulates different proteins in distinct cellular pathways. Nrx

Delayed cardioplegic reoxygenation reduces reoxygenation injury in cyanotic immature hearts
Hypoxemic developing hearts are susceptible to oxygen-mediated damage that occurs after reintroduction of molecular oxygen. This unintended hypoxemic/reoxygenation injury leads to lipid peroxidation and membrane damage and may contribute to postoperative cardiac dysfunction.

The therapeutic effect of controlled reoxygenation on chronic hypoxia-associated brain injury
Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is the most general technique applied in congenital heart disease (CHD). However, standard CPB poses a specific pathologic condition for patients during surgery: exposure to reoxygenation.

The effect of erythropoietin on calcium levels during hypoxia reoxygenation injury in rats
This experimental study examined the effect of erythropoietin (Epo) on rat model and particularly in a hypoxia-reoxygenation protocol. The effect of that molecule was studied biochemically using blood mean calcium levels (Ca++). Forty rats of mean weight

Myocardial Damage Induced by Uncontrolled Reoxygenation [PDF]
To evaluate myocardial impairment induced by uncontrolled reoxygenation, the effects of hypoxia-reoxygenation were compared with ischemia-reperfusion in isolated rat hearts. After stabilization, 2 groups (n = 8) of Langendorff-perfused rat hearts were exposed to 40 minutes of ischemia (10% of baseline flow) or hypoxia (10% of ...

Glutathione Depletion Disrupts Redox Homeostasis in an Anoxia-Tolerant Invertebrate
The upregulation of endogenous antioxidants is a widespread phenomenon in animals that tolerate hypoxia/anoxia for extended periods. The identity of the mobilized antioxidant is often context-dependent and differs among species, tissues, and stresses ...
