Effect of spermidine intake on overload‐induced skeletal muscle hypertrophy in male mice

open access: yesPhysiological Reports
Skeletal muscles exhibit high plasticity, such as overload‐induced hypertrophy or immobilization‐induced atrophy. During sports, skeletal muscle hypertrophy is induced by training to improve performance.

Dependence of swarming inEscherichia coliK-12 on spermidine and the spermidine importer [PDF]

open access: yesFEMS Microbiology Letters, 2009
In a previous work, it was observed that the swarming of polyamine-deficient Proteus mirabilis (speB::sm) was severely inhibited on Luria-Bertani (LB) swarming plates (LBSw) (LB, 0.5% glucose, 0.5% agar), and it was clarified that extracellular putrescine was important as a signaling molecule for the induction of swarming in P. mirabilis.

Inhibition of Ornithine Decarboxylase 1 Mitigates Denervation‐Induced Muscle Atrophy by Suppressing Proteolysis and Preserving Muscle Stem Cell Homeostasis

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Polyamine metabolism is innervation responsive and involved in denervation‐induced muscle atrophy. Inhibition of polyamine metabolism attenuates muscle atrophy by restraining proteolysis and preserving MuSCs homeostasis. Denervation‐induced activation of FAP‐derived FGF7 drives premature MuSCs activation, while DFMO suppresses this paracrine cue to ...

Rational engineering of homospermidine synthase for enhanced catalytic efficiency toward spermidine synthesis

open access: yesSynthetic and Systems Biotechnology
Spermidine is a naturally occurring polyamine widely utilized in the prevention and treatment of various diseases. Current spermidine biosynthetic methods have problems such as low efficiency and complex multi-enzyme catalysis.

Methyl Jasmonate Seed Priming Mitigates the Defence‐Growth Trade‐Off and Tailors Plant Response to Specific Pests

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Seed defence priming is emerging as a novel, cost‐efficient and environmentally safe tool for pest management. It has been proposed as a means to uncouple the defence‐growth trade‐off in plants by enhancing defence responses with minimal fitness costs, but the mechanisms underlying this role remain elusive.

Effect of Spermidine on Actomyosin System.

open access: yes, 1969
The inhibitory action of spermidine aliphatic polyamine, on myosin B was studied in relation to the ionic strength. On the basis of this result, it was concluded that the inhibitory action of spermidine on the actomyosin system is not due to the increase
