The Mechanism of Gut Microbiota in Breast Cancer Based on the Bulk Transcriptome, Mendelian Randomization Analysis and Single Cell RNA Sequencing

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 2, April 2026.
This multi‐omics study defines the gut microbiota‐driven MCM6/NR3C1 axis as a key driver of breast cancer, providing robust biomarkers for early diagnosis and actionable therapeutic targets. ABSTRACT Breast cancer (BC) is the leading cause of cancer death in women.

Influence of major structural features of tocopherols and tocotrienols on their ω-oxidation by tocopherol-ω-hydroxylase

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2007
Human cytochrome P450 4F2 (CYP4F2) catalyzes the initial ω-hydroxylation reaction in the metabolism of tocopherols and tocotrienols to carboxychromanols and is, to date, the only enzyme shown to metabolize vitamin E.

Metabolic and Redox‐Related Effects of Mauritia flexuosa (Buriti) Oil Supplementation in Wistar Rats

open access: yesJournal of Food Science, Volume 91, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Mauritia flexuosa (buriti) oil is rich in oleic and palmitic fatty acids, bioactive compounds associated with inflammation regulation, redox balance, and metabolism. This study evaluated the effects of buriti oil supplementation on body and bone composition, biochemical parameters, and redox balance in male Wistar rats.

Membrane composition and dynamics: A target of bioactive virgin olive oil constituents [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The endogenous synthesis of lipids, which requires suitable dietary raw materials, is critical for the formation of membrane bilayers. In eukaryotic cells, phospholipids are the predominant membrane lipids and consist of hydrophobic acyl chains attached ...

When Pathways Converge: Iron, Lipid Peroxidation, and α‐Synuclein in Ferroptosis‐Driven Dopaminergic Neurodegeneration

open access: yesJournal of Neurochemistry, Volume 170, Issue 4, April 2026.
Dopaminergic neurons are particularly susceptible to ferroptosis. Pacemaking activity–driven calcium (Ca2+) influx increases metabolic demand and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, promoting iron release from aconitase. Alpha‐synuclein (α‐syn) enhances iron uptake via transferrin receptor 1 (TfR1) and exhibits ferrireductase activity, converting

Preparation and Characterizationof Palm-Based Functional Lipid Nanodispersions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Poor solubility of functional lipids has made their use problematic in food industry especially in food formulations. The difficulties to find a suitable formulation or solution are even greater especially when the functional lipids are poorly soluble ...

Delta- and gamma-tocotrienol isomers are potent in inhibiting inflammation and endothelial activation in stimulated human endothelial cells

open access: yesFood & Nutrition Research, 2016
Background: Tocotrienols (TCTs) are more potent antioxidants than α-tocopherol (TOC). However, the effectiveness and mechanism of the action of TCT isomers as anti-atherosclerotic agents in stimulated human endothelial cells under inflammatory conditions

Comparison of geranylgeranyl and phytyl substituted methylquinols in the tocopherol synthesis of spinach chloroplasts [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
Geranylgeranyl substituted methylquinols are shown to be precursors of tocopherol biosynthesis in spinach chloroplasts as well as phytyl substituted ones.

Antioxidative Activity of Tocotrienols

open access: yesJournal of Japan Oil Chemists' Society, 1985
The antioxidative activity of α-and γ-tocotrienols in methyl linoleate was tested by weighing method at 60°C and was compared with that of α- and γ-tocopherols. Tocotrienols showed slightly superior or equal antioxidative activity to the corresponding tocopherols.
