Background Glutamyl queuosine-tRNAAsp synthetase (GluQ-RS) is a paralog of the catalytic domain of glutamyl-tRNA synthetase and catalyzes the formation of glutamyl-queuosine on the wobble position of tRNAAsp. Here we analyze the transcription of its gene

Drosophila park mutants serve as a model for Parkinson's disease. We used this strain to investigate the connection between oxidative stress and the circadian clock mechanism. We showed that increased oxidative stress affects the physiology of pacemaker cells, disrupting their daily structural plasticity. Lack of rhythmic signaling from pacemaker cells

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Engineering efficient termination of bacteriophage T7 RNA polymerase transcription
The bacteriophage T7 expression system is one of the most prominent transcription systems used in biotechnology and molecular-level research. However, T7 RNA polymerase is prone to read-through transcription due to its high processivity. As a consequence,

Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Antisense transcription as a tool to tune gene expression
A surprise that has emerged from transcriptomics is the prevalence of genomic antisense transcription, which occurs counter to gene orientation. While frequent, the roles of antisense transcription in regulation are poorly understood.

Genetic organization of the rex locus (gbs1167) and similarity to other Rex proteins.
A Rho-independent transcription terminator, is present downstream of gbs1164-1166 operon. Arrow represents the transcriptional start site of the gbs1167 gene. gbs1168 encodes a radC-like gene. Percentage of identity and protein size (number of amino acid

EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.
