Heart Failure: Epidemiology, Pathophysiology, and Management

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2026.
This article takes calcium homeostasis as the point of departure to provide an overview of heart failure from three perspectives—epidemiology, pathophysiological mechanisms, and management strategies—and summarizes the current unmet needs and future directions in the field. ABSTRACT Heart failure (HF) is one of the leading causes of hospitalization and

TRPC3 and TRPC6 as molecular mediators of resistant hypertension and cardiac fibrosis: a new therapeutic frontier

open access: yesArterial Hypertension
Resistant hypertension remains a significant global health concern and is a major contributor to cardiovascular complications such as vascular dysfunction and cardiac fibrosis. Emerging evidence suggests that transient receptor potential canonical (TRPC)

Local Anesthetics in Cancer: Mechanisms and Translational Perspectives

open access: yesMedComm – Oncology, Volume 5, Issue 1, March 2026.
Local anesthetics demonstrate multifaceted antitumor effects that collectively contribute to cancer suppression. Beyond canonical sodium channel blockade, these agents exert the following pharmacological actions: inhibition of tumor cell proliferation, suppression of migration and invasion, induction of proapoptotic pathways, attenuation of ...

Nanoparticles‐Mediated Modulation of TRP Channels: Advances and Therapeutic Potential

open access: yesWIREs Nanomedicine and Nanobiotechnology, Volume 18, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
Nanoparticle‐mediated modulation of TRP channels, highlighting the interplay between external stimuli, tailored nanomaterials, and TRP channel activation across a range of physiological contexts. This review examines the roles of TRP channels in cellular signaling and disease, providing insights into how advances in nanotechnology can facilitate ...

Structure of the human lipid-gated cation channel TRPC3

open access: yeseLife, 2018
The TRPC channels are crucially involved in store-operated calcium entry and calcium homeostasis, and they are implicated in human diseases such as neurodegenerative disease, cardiac hypertrophy, and spinocerebellar ataxia.

Calcium Dysregulation Promotes Glioma Progression by Inhibiting STAT3 Degradation Through Blocking Chaperone‐Mediated Autophagy

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 30, Issue 5, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Calcium dysregulation is closely associated with cancer cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Transient receptor potential canonical 1 (TRPC1) plays an essential role in regulating calcium homeostasis. However, the role of TRPC1 in calcium dysregulation in gliomas remains incompletely understood. In this study, we demonstrate that TRPC1

Abnormal expression, localization and interaction of canonical transient receptor potential ion channels in human breast cancer cell lines and tissues: a potential target for breast cancer diagnosis and therapy

open access: yesCancer Cell International, 2009
Background Ca2+ is known to be involved in a number of metastatic processes including motility and proliferation which can result in store-depletion of Ca2+.

Mating‐Type Loci Modulate Pathogenicity and Non‐Sexual Development Through Autocrine Pheromone Signalling in the Asexual Fungus Fusarium oxysporum

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 3, March 2026.
MAT loci function as bistable switches in the asexual plant‐pathogenic fungus Fusarium oxysporum, controlling population behaviour through autocrine pheromone signalling. MAT1‐1 promotes hyphal fusion and virulence while repressing germination. MAT1‐2 has opposite effects, upregulating Bar1 protease that cleaves α‐pheromone.

Analysis of Mrgprb2 Receptor-Evoked Ca2+ Signaling in Bone Marrow Derived (BMMC) and Peritoneal (PMC) Mast Cells of TRPC-Deficient Mice

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2020
Mast cells are a heterogeneous group of immune cells. The simplest and commonly accepted classification divides them in two groups according to their protease content. We have compared the action of diverse secretagogues on bone marrow derived (BMMC) and

Classical Transient Receptor Potential 1 (TRPC1): Channel or Channel Regulator?

open access: yesCells, 2014
In contrast to other Classical Transient Receptor Potential TRPC channels the function of TRPC1 as an ion channel is a matter of debate, because it is often difficult to obtain substantial functional signals over background in response to over-expression
