Systematic underestimation of the epigenetic clock and age acceleration in older subjects
Background The Horvath epigenetic clock is widely used. It predicts age quite well from 353 CpG sites in the DNA methylation profile in unknown samples and has been used to calculate “age acceleration” in various tissues and environments.

Epigenetic aging acceleration among World Trade Center-exposed community members
Aging is a complex biological process, and some individuals are aging faster or slower than expected. This phenomenon of aging acceleration occurs when biological age exceeds chronological age and can be assessed by epigenetic clock estimation.

Does accelerated epigenetic ageing predict accelerated future musculoskeletal ageing?
The ability to predict those at risk of more rapid musculoskeletal ageing is vital if therapeutic strategies are to be successful. Precise description of the ageing musculoskeletal phenotype combined with the mapping of epigenetic changes, specifically those within the DNA methylome, enable precise age prediction and ‘epigenetic clocks’ have been ...

Heavy metals, epigenetic aging, and mortality: A cohort study
Background: Aging is a multifaceted biological process modulated by interplay of genetic determinants and environmental influences. However, the role of epigenetic aging in the association between environmental exposures and mortality risk in human ...

Neighborhood Stressors and Epigenetic Age Acceleration Among Older Americans. [PDF]
Abstract Objectives Exposure to stressful neighborhood environments is a well-established risk factor for health deterioration and premature death. However, the biological underpinnings are not fully understood.

Distinct epigenetic aging in sporadic and hereditary neuroendocrine neoplasms
Background Epigenetic clocks assess DNA aging based on DNA methylation. We aimed to study the utility of methylation clocks in understanding the distinct characteristics of sporadic and hereditary neuroendocrine neoplasms (NEN).

Epigenetic age and cardiometabolic disease in Guatemalan adults: a cross-sectional analysis
Background Epigenetic clocks, biomarkers of aging, show older biological ages among individuals with cardiometabolic disease. Epigenetic age acceleration, often calculated as the residuals from regressing epigenetic age on chronological age, reflects ...
