Human L-ficolin (ficolin-2) and its clinical significance. [PDF]
Human L-ficolin (P35, ficolin-2) is synthesised in the liver and secreted into the bloodstream where it is one of the major pattern recognition molecules of plasma/serum. Like other ficolins, it consists of a collagen-like tail region linked to a fibrinogen-related globular head; a basic triplet subunit arises via a collagen-like triple helix, and this

Rapid and efficient purification of ficolin-2 using a disposable CELLine bioreactor. [PDF]
The human opsonin ficolin-2 (L-ficolin) is an innate pattern-recognizing molecule that binds to acetylated moieties. Upon binding, ficolin-2 activates complement through the lectin pathway, opsonizing the target to promote phagocytic clearance. Ficolin-2 has been found to interact with a growing number of pathogenic bacteria, fungi, and viruses ...

Ficolin-2 Plasma Level Assesses Liver Fibrosis in Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease. [PDF]
Abstract Background & Aims: In the next 20 years, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is expected to become the leading cause of liver transplantation. Fibrosis is the most important prognostic factor for liver-related outcomes and mortality, but the need for liver biopsy limits diagnosis. We assessed the performance of plasma ficolin-

Circulating Ficolin-2 and Ficolin-3 Form Heterocomplexes [PDF]
Abstract The complement system constitutes an important part of the innate immune system. The collectins and the ficolins are soluble pattern recognition molecules that contribute to complement activation via the lectin pathway. During previous experiments with ficolin-2 and ficolin-3, we have observed that the molecules may interact. We

Human ficolin‐2 recognition versatility extended: An update on the binding of ficolin‐2 to sulfated/phosphated carbohydrates [PDF]
Ficolin‐2 has been reported to bind to DNA and heparin, but the mechanism involved has not been thoroughly investigated. X‐ray studies of the ficolin‐2 fibrinogen‐like domain in complex with several new ligands now show that sulfate and phosphate groups are prone to bind to the S3 binding site of the protein.

Lrat+ quiescent hepatic stellate cells (qHSC) give rise to Lrat+Fbln2+ activated HSC (aHSC) in alcohol‐associated hepatitis and this subpopulation is highly profibrotic, inflammatory, and immunoregulatory based on their single cell transcriptomic profile. Abstract Background and Aims Relative roles of HSCs and portal fibroblasts in alcoholic hepatitis (

Commercially available complement component-depleted sera are unexpectedly codepleted of ficolin-2. [PDF]
ABSTRACTThe ficolins are a family of innate pattern recognition molecules that are known to bind acetylated compounds and activate complement through the association of mannose binding lectin (MBL)/ficolin-associated serine proteases (MASPs). Their importance has more recently become appreciated, as they have been shown to play a role in a variety of ...

Association between serum ficolin-1 level and disease progression in primary biliary cholangitis
Pattern recognition molecules (PRMs) in the complement system contribute to homeostasis as mediators of complement activation. The contribution of PRMs to primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) is unknown.
