Psychedelics, entactogens and psychoplastogens for depression and related disorders
Currently, the most actively investigated rapidly acting antidepressants, anxiolytics and/or anti PTSD agents, include psychedelics e.g. psilocybin, LSD, N,N‐dimethyltryptamine, ayahuasca; non‐hallucinogenic entactogens, e.g. MDMA; psychoplastogens which rapidly promote neuroplasticity, e.g.

Defining the end point of status epilepticus: A scoping review and framework for standardization
Abstract Status epilepticus (SE) is a life‐threatening neurological emergency with consensus‐driven definitions for onset but no standardized criteria for its end point. This gap creates uncertainty in research and clinical practice. We conducted a scoping review to evaluate how end points have been defined in SE research and to identify key areas of ...

Women with epilepsy: Evidence‐based counseling across the lifespan
Abstract Women with epilepsy (WWE) encounter distinct and evolving challenges across the lifespan that require clinical management extending beyond seizure control alone. Although awareness of sex‐specific aspects of epilepsy has increased, important gaps remain in their integration into routine care.

An iEEG investigation on sex‐specific differences in seizure duration
Abstract Objective Male people with epilepsy (mPWE) are at higher risk for bilateral tonic–clonic seizures (BTCs) and sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) compared to female people with epilepsy (fPWE). Despite major clinical and personal implications, little is known about sex‐specific differences in seizure propagation and termination ...

Precursors of the neurosteroids. [PDF]
In addition to the neurosteroids pregnenolone and dehydroepiandrosterone, organic solvent extracts of rat brains contain related compounds that react with various reagents to yield additional amounts of these ketosteroids. Among the chemicals producing these increments are triethylamine, HCl, FeCl3, and Pb(OAc)4.

This study investigates the neuroprotective effect of vitamin D against cisplatin‐induced mitochondrial damage and oxidative stress (ROS). HO‐1 expression is increased by vitamin D, which triggers Nrf2 activation and nuclear translocation. The results demonstrate that vitamin D protects brain tissue by strengthening the antioxidant defense system ...

This outlines the progress for developing a sleep‐modulating herbal formula (SMF). It begins with the identification of effective compounds and quality control, then uses network pharmacology and molecular docking to explain the mechanisms behind the observation found on the behavioural and neurobiological results in animal study.

Neurosteroids for a successful pregnancy
Steroid hormones play a critical role in the initiation and maintenance of pregnancy. In particular, the important role that the progesterone metabolite, and neurosteroid, allopregnanolone, may play in fetal and adolescent development is becoming increasingly evident.

Steroids synthesized de novo by the central and peripheral nervous systems are called neurosteroids. The formation of neurosteroids from cholesterol in the brain was originally demonstrated in mammals by Baulieu and colleagues.
