Drosophila melanogaster is a valuable model organism for a wide range of biological exploration. The well-known advantages of D. melanogaster include its relatively simple biology, the ease with which it is genetically modified, the relatively low financial and time costs associated with their short gestation and life cycles, and the large number of ...

An adhesive hydrogel depot with polyphenol‐armored nanogenes is developed for treating aged osteoarthritis. This system maintains miR‐140 bioactivity, prolongs its intra‐articular retention, and enhances transfection into chondrocytes, leading to the downregulation of senescence‐associated pathways.

The biomimetic self‐assembly nanomedicine reversing atherosclerosis via senotherapy strategy. ABSTRACT The greatest challenge in atherosclerosis (AS) management lies in achieving lesion reversal, not merely slowing progression. Senescent cell accumulation—driven by continuous generation and apoptotic resistance—perpetuates plaque pathology and ...

AbstractAging is a major risk factor for most chronic disorders, for which cellular senescence is one of the central hallmarks. Senescent cells develop the pro‐inflammatory senescence‐associated secretory phenotype (SASP), which significantly contributes to organismal aging and age‐related disorders.

International audienceOsteoarthritis (OA) is a common age-related disease that correlates with a high number of senescent cells in joint tissues. Senescence has been reported to be one of the main drivers of OA pathogenesis, in particular via the release

Senescent Cells: Dual Implications on the Retinal Vascular System [PDF]
Cellular senescence, a state of permanent cell cycle arrest in response to endogenous and exogenous stimuli, triggers a series of gradual alterations in structure, metabolism, and function, as well as inflammatory gene expression that nurtures a low ...

Systemic aging fuels heart failure: Molecular mechanisms and therapeutic avenues
Abstract Systemic aging influences various physiological processes and contributes to structural and functional decline in cardiac tissue. These alterations include an increased incidence of left ventricular hypertrophy, a decline in left ventricular diastolic function, left atrial dilation, atrial fibrillation, myocardial fibrosis and cardiac ...

The Quest for Eternal Youth: Hallmarks of Aging and Rejuvenating Therapeutic Strategies
The impressive achievements made in the last century in extending the lifespan have led to a significant growth rate of elderly individuals in populations across the world and an exponential increase in the incidence of age-related conditions such as ...

Staging concept for aging management: Definition, mechanism, and coping strategies
We divided the overall aging stage into “pre‐aging”, “aging compensation”, and “aging disability”. For each stage, we delineate the clinical presentations, biological phenomena, theoretical underpinnings, and key management priorities. Abstract Aging, as a gradual and largely irreversible biological process, characterized by declining organismal ...
