High SLC7A11 expression in normal skin of melanoma patients [PDF]

open access: yesCancer Epidemiology, 2019
Melanoma is one of the highest metastatic cancers and its incidence is rapidly increasing. A great effort has been devoted to determine gene mutations and expression profiles in melanoma cells, but less attention has been given to the possible influence of melanin synthesis in melanocytes on melanomagenesis.

The SLC7A11: sperm mitochondrial function and non-canonical glutamate metabolism [PDF]

open access: yesReproduction, 2020
Spermatozoa are redox-regulated cells, and stallion spermatozoa, in particular, present an intense mitochondrial activity in which large amounts of reactive oxygen species (ROS) are produced. To maintain the redox potential under physiological conditions, sophisticated mechanisms ought to be present, particularly in the mitochondria.

Combinatorial targeting of G‐protein‐coupled bile acid receptor 1 and cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1 reveals a mechanistic role for bile acids and leukotrienes in drug‐induced liver injury

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
CHIN117 is a dual cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1 (CYSLTR1) antagonist and G‐protein‐coupled bile acid receptor 1 (GPBAR1) agonist. In the liver, GPBAR1 and CYSLTR1 are coexpressed by liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSECs), HSCs, circulating monocytes/macrophages, and liver resident macrophages (Kupffer cells).

Intra-Tumoral Expression of SLC7A11 Is Associated with Immune Microenvironment, Drug Resistance, and Prognosis in Cancers: A Pan-Cancer Analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2021
While many anti-cancer modalities have shown potent efficacy in clinical practices, cancer prevention, timely detection, and effective treatment are still challenging.

MiR-27a-3p Promotes Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Through SLC7A11-Mediated-Ferroptosis

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2021
BackgroundFerroptosis is a newly generated regulatory cell death promoted by the accumulated lipid-based reactive oxygen species (ROS). Solute carrier family 7 member 11 (SLC7A11), the cystine/glutamate antiporter, is known as a ferroptosis executor that

Identification of SLC7A11‐AS1/SLC7A11 pair as a ferroptosis‐related therapeutic target for hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine
AbstractHepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), a prevalent malignancy worldwide, poses significant challenges in terms of prognosis, necessitating innovative therapeutic approaches. Ferroptosis offers notable advantages over apoptosis, holding promise as a novel therapeutic approach for HCC complexities. Moreover, while the interaction between long non‐coding

Comparative analysis of antibodies to xCT (Slc7a11): Forewarned is forearmed

open access: yesJournal of Comparative Neurology, 2015
ABSTRACTThe cystine/glutamate antiporter or system exchanges cystine for glutamate, thereby supporting intracellular glutathione synthesis and nonvesicular glutamate release. The role of system in neurological disorders can be dual and remains a matter of debate. One important reason for the contradictory findings that have been reported to date is

SLC7A11 promotes EMT and metastasis in invasive pituitary neuroendocrine tumors by activating the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway

open access: yesEndocrine Connections
Invasive pituitary neuroendocrine tumors (PitNETs) are the most prevalent types of intracranial and neuroendocrine tumors. Their aggressive growth and difficulty in complete resection result in a high recurrence rate.
