Mex-3 RNA-binding family member A limits macrophage ferroptosis-associated injury linked to the SLC7A11/GPX4 pathway in diabetic atherosclerosis. [PDF]

open access: yesClin Transl Med
Diabetes reduces macrophage MEX3A and aggravates atherosclerotic plaque instability. MEX3A stabilises Slc7a11 and Gpx4 mRNAs to sustain SLC7A11/GPX4 antioxidant defence. MEX3A deficiency promotes macrophage ferroptosis, lipid peroxidation and mitochondrial injury. Ferrostatin‐1 partially attenuates ferroptotic injury and diabetic plaque destabilisation.

An integrated analysis of SLC7A11 as a pan-cancer immunotherapeutic biomarker with experimental validation of its regulation by miR-148b-3p in breast cancer [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
BackgroundIdentifying reliable biomarkers for immunotherapy response remains challenging. Solute carrier family 7 member 11 (SLC7A11), a key regulator of redox homeostasis and ferroptosis, demonstrates significant tumor-promoting potential across cancers,

CIRBP Stabilizes Slc7a11 mRNA to Sustain the SLC7A11/GPX4 Antioxidant Axis and Limit Ferroptosis in Doxorubicin-Induced Cardiotoxicity

open access: yesAntioxidants
Doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity (DIC) significantly constrains the clinical efficacy of anthracycline chemotherapy, primarily through the induction of ferroptosis, an iron-dependent, regulated cell death driven by oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation. However, the upstream regulators of ferroptosis in DIC remain incompletely defined.

Rotavirus-induced lncRNA SLC7A11-AS1 promotes ferroptosis by targeting cystine/glutamate antiporter xCT (SLC7A11) to facilitate virus infection

open access: yesVirus Research
Rotavirus (RV) is the primary etiological agent of virus-associated gastroenteritis in infants, causing 200,000 childhood death annually. Despite the availability of vaccines, rotaviral diarrhea continues to be a severe issue in underdeveloped nations in Asia and Africa.

SLC7A11-ROS/αKG-AMPK axis regulates liver inflammation through mitophagy and impairs liver fibrosis and NASH progression

open access: yesRedox Biology
The changes of inflammation and metabolism are two features in nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). However, how they interact to regulate NASH progression remains largely unknown.

Hydrophobicity causes anomalous migration of cystine/glutamate antiporter SLC7A11 in SDS‐PAGE with low acrylamide concentration

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio
The cystine/glutamate antiporter, solute carrier family 7 member 11 (SLC7A11), plays a crucial role in regulating redox homeostasis and cell death processes such as apoptosis and ferroptosis.

Blocking SLC7A11 attenuates the proliferation of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma cells

open access: yesAnimal Cells and Systems
The role of ferroptosis-associated gene SLC7A11 in esophageal cancer progression is largely unknown, therefore, the effects of blocking SLC7A11 on esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) cells are evaluated.

Network Pharmacology and Integrated Experimental Evidence Demonstrate That Ophiopogonin D Suppresses Hepatocellular Carcinoma Progression via the UCK2-SLC7A11 Axis. [PDF]

open access: yesFood Sci Nutr
Ophiopogonin D exerts anti‐HCC effects by targeting UCK2 and inducing ferroptosis via the UCK2‐SLC7A11 axis. ABSTRACT Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) treatment faces significant challenges, including high toxicity and drug resistance. Ophiopogonin D, the active compound derived from the medicinal food material Ophiopogon japonicus (Mai Dong), has ...
