Assessment of Tocotrienols Intake in Adults—A Pilot Study

open access: yes, 2022
Vitamin E compounds are known for their antioxidant potential. Research indicates a more effective antioxidant effect of tocotrienols compared to tocopherols.

Cellular protection and therapeutic potential of tocotrienols [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
WOS: 000299624400009PubMed ID: 21774780Tocotrienols, components belonging to vitamin E members, are used as potent therapeutics in the treatment of several diseases. Recent studies suggested tocotrienol to have better activity in many situations compared

Tocotrienols inhibit lipopolysaccharide-induced pro-inflammatory cytokines in macrophages of female mice

open access: yesLipids in Health and Disease, 2010
Background Inflammation has been implicated in cardiovascular disease, and the important role of proteasomes in the development of inflammation and other macrophage functions has been demonstrated.

Distribution of Tocotrienols in Rats Fed a Rice Bran Tocotrienol Concentrate

open access: yesBioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 2007
To examine the distribution of rice bran tocotrienol (T3), we gave rice bran T3 to rats after considering an acceptable daily intake of vitamin E for humans. Male SD rats (5 weeks of age) were fed for 3 weeks on a commercial diet containing 6.4 mg of vitamin E per 100 g wt and additively received vitamin E or the vehicle (vitamin E-free corn oil) by ...

Palm tocotrienols reduce lipopolysaccharide-stimulated inflammatory responses of microglia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Introduction: The potential immunoregulatory effects of tocotrienols, the less studied form of vitamin E, had not been determined for microglia until our last publication showcased primary evidence of palm tocotrienols limiting microglia activation ...

Chromatographic Separation of Vitamin E Enantiomers

open access: yesMolecules, 2017
Vitamin E is recognized as an essential vitamin since its discovery in 1922. Most vegetable oils contain a mixture of tocopherols and tocotrienols in the vitamin E composition. Structurally, tocopherols and tocotrienols share a similar chromanol ring and

Dose-Dependent Cholesterolemic Activity of Tocotrienols and α-Tocopherol [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Tocotrienols and tocopherols are isoforms of vitamin E. Vitamin E may exhibit antioxidant, prooxidant and non-antioxidant activities depending upon circumstances.

Anti-inflammatory γ- and δ-tocotrienols improve cardiovascular, liver and metabolic function in diet-induced obese rats

open access: yes, 2017
Purpose This study tested the hypothesis that γ- and δ-tocotrienols are more effective than α-tocotrienol and α-tocopherol in attenuating the signs of diet-induced metabolic syndrome in rats.

Seasonal Fluctuations of Plastochromanol‐8 and α‐Tocopherol Amounts in the Leaves of Cecropia Trees

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Plastochromanol‐8 (PC‐8) is a homologue of γ‐tocotrienol with a longer side chain (eight instead of three isoprene units) and therefore also a representative of the tocochromanol (vitamin E) group. PC‐8 has been determined in various plants and seeds, with Cecropia sp. leaves showing unusually high levels.
