Lachnospiraceae in the Food–Gut Axis: A Critical Review of Dietary Modulation, Immune Regulation, and Translational Barriers

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 6, November 2026.
ABSTRACT The interplay between diet, gut microbiota, and host immunity is central to food science. The Lachnospiraceae family ferments dietary fibers to produce short‐chain fatty acids (SCFAs), notably butyrate and propionate, with immunomodulatory potential. This critical review distinguishes established findings from hypotheses.

Time‐restricted feeding prior to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection reduces tissue CD4+ T cells with limited impact on bacterial clearance

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 16, Issue 10, Page 1944-1957, October 2026.
Time‐restricted feeding (TRF) in mice increased liver fatty acid oxidation and decreased fatty acid biosynthesis. These alterations persisted when TRF was discontinued and the host was infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Pre‐exposure to TRF did not alter tissue (lung and spleen) mycobacterial burden but significantly reduced CD3+ T cells in lungs

Targeting GALNT7 Disrupts the TAZ O‐GalNAcylation Feedback Loop to Suppress Gallbladder Cancer Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 55, 5 October 2026.
Aberrant GALNT7‐mediated O‐GalNAcylation stabilizes TAZ to drive gallbladder cancer progression through a feed‐forward transcriptional loop. Structure‐based screening identifies Olaparib as a potent GALNT7 antagonist that disrupts this oncogenic axis, providing an immediate therapeutic strategy for this aggressive malignancy.

HMGCR‐Driven Cholesterol Metabolism Promotes Osteoarthritis Progression by Accelerating Synovial Fibroblast Senescence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 55, 5 October 2026.
In the pathological context of osteoarthritis (OA), the phosphorylation of AKT1 at Ser473 enhances its binding to Lys140 of Insig1, which facilitates the formation of AKT1–Insig1 complex. Subsequently, the activation of AKT1 promotes the phosphorylation of Insig1 at Ser189, potentially enhancing the dissociation of Insig1 from sterol regulatory element‑

Programming Gut Microbiome Function Through Cross‐Feeding: From Ecological Mechanisms to Live Biotherapeutics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 55, 5 October 2026.
This graphical abstract presents gut microbial cross‐feeding through a Mechanism–Technology–Application framework. It summarizes major resource‐transfer modes, the experimental and computational tools used to establish causality, and potential interventions involving dietary substrates, live biotherapeutic products, and engineered microbes.

Gut Bacterial Diversity of the Migratory Hilsa Shad Tenualosa ilisha (Hamilton, 1822) From Different Habitats in Bangladesh

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 6, Issue 5, October 2026.
ABSTRACT The present study was conducted to determine the distinct gut bacteriome diversity and composition in Hilsa Shad (Tenualosa ilisha), a biologically, nutritionally and economically significant species, across different habitats using next‐generation sequencing.

Gallstone formation and hepatobiliary tumour risk: Clinical implications of the bile acid–gut microbiota axis

open access: yesClinical and Translational Discovery, Volume 6, Issue 5, October 2026.
1. Irregular dietary patterns (e.g., late breakfast, reduced meal frequency) upregulate the bai gene cluster by disrupting cholecystokinin (CCK) release rhythms and gut microbiota circadian rhythms, leading to increased production of secondary bile acids, particularly DCA. High‐carbohydrate dietary patterns increase gallstone risk (OR = 1.329).

A 5:2 Intermittent Fasting Regimen Ameliorates High‐Fat Diet‐Induced MASLD‐Associated Skeletal Muscle Impairment in Mice

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, Volume 17, Issue 5, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Metabolic dysfunction–associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is a highly prevalent chronic liver disorder worldwide. Its pathogenesis is closely linked to high‐fat diets (HFDs) and is frequently accompanied by decreased skeletal muscle quality.

Conserved and Tissue‐Specific RNA and Protein Cargos of Small Extracellular Vesicles From 120 Tissue Sites Across 34 Organs in a Single Pig

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 15, Issue 10, October 2026.
A whole‐body map of sEVs from a single pig, including 133 samples spanning 10 systems, revealed striking tissue‐specific heterogeneity in yield. Importantly, a conserved core cargo set comprising candidate sEV markers (ACTG1, CFL1, and ANXA2), RNA‐binding proteins, the let‐7 miRNA family, and ferritin genes was defined from 105,409 (88.6% full‐length ...

Citrus depressa peel extract and its polymethoxyflavones mitigate acetaminophen‐induced chronic liver injury in mice through antioxidant activation, epigenetic regulation, and gut microbiota modulation

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 13, Page 7629-7642, October 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND Preventing chronic liver damage is essential for maintaining overall health and reducing the risk of serious liver diseases. Acetaminophen (APAP) overdose can lead to severe liver damage due to oxidative stress, and citrus fruits are rich in bioactive compounds that may have health benefits.
