Affinity Capture Mass Spectrometry of Biomarker Proteins Using Peptide Ligands from Biopanning [PDF]

open access: yesAnalytical Chemistry, 2009
Affinity capture mass spectrometry was used to isolate and ionize protein A from Staphylococcus aureus from both a commercial source and cell culture lysate using matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry. Two surfaces are compared: gold surfaces with immunoglobulin G covalently immobilized and silica surfaces with a ...

Preparation of hexagonal GeO2 particles with particle size and crystallinity controlled by peptides, silk and silk-peptide chimeras [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We demonstrate the use of silk based proteins to control the particle/crystallite size during GeO2 formation, using a bio-mimetic approach at circumneutral pH and ambient temperature. Multicrystalline GeO2 was prepared from germanium tetraethoxide (TEOG)

Subtractive phage display selection from canine visceral leishmaniasis identifies novel epitopes that mimic leishmania infantum antigens with potential serodiagnosis applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Visceral leishmaniasis (VL) is a zoonotic disease that is endemic to Brazil, where dogs are the main domestic parasite reservoirs, and the percentages of infected dogs living in regions where canine VL (CVL) is endemic have ranged from 10% to 62 ...

Peptide Receptor‐Functionalized AuNP‐Embedded Zwitterionic Biopolymeric Nanohydrogel for Electrochemical Sclerostin Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report an electrochemical biosensor that employs biopanning‐derived affinity peptides as selective receptors on a multifunctional chitosan–zwitterionic–gold nanoparticle (CS–ZI–AuNPs) nanohydrogel interface. The CS–ZI–AuNPs nanohydrogel exhibits antifouling properties, abundant sites for stable peptide immobilization, and efficient electrochemical ...

Transmissible gastroenteritis virus: Identification of M protein-binding peptide ligands with antiviral and diagnostic potential [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The membrane (M) protein is one of the major structural proteins of coronavirus particles. In this study, the M protein of transmissible gastroenteritis virus (TGEV) was used to biopan a 12-mer phage display random peptide library.

Nanobody–chlorin e6 conjugate for Nectin‐4‐mediated tumor targeting and enhanced photodynamic therapy

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Nectin‐4 is frequently overexpressed in solid tumors, yet many PDT photosensitizers show poor water solubility and nonspecific uptake. A Nectin‐4‐targeted nanobody–chlorin e6 conjugate (NPC) improves aqueous solubility and selectively accumulates in Nectin‐4‐positive tumor cells.
