Characterisation of OXA-244, a chromosomally-encoded OXA-48-like β-lactamase from Escherichia coli [PDF]
International audienceABSTRACT Shewanella spp. constitute a reservoir of antibiotic resistance determinants. In a bile sample, we identified three extended-spectrum-β-lactamase (ESBL)-producing bacteria ( Escherichia coli , Klebsiella pneumoniae , and ...

Evaluation of the Immunochromatographic NG-Test Carba 5, RESIST-5 O.O.K.N.V., and IMP K-SeT for Rapid Detection of KPC-, NDM-, IMP-, VIM-type, and OXA-48-like Carbapenemase Among Enterobacterales [PDF]
BackgroundEnterobacterales are the most common pathogens for nosocomial infections. The emergence and spread of KPC, NDM, and OXA-48-like carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales with their extensively drug-resistant characteristics have posed great ...

Summary: Little is known of carbapenemase producing Klebsiella pneumoniae (CPK) in Jordan. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of CPK in a major hospital in Amman, Jordan in 2012–2013 and to characterize the isolates and detect the types of ...

Biochemical and biophysical characterization of the OXA-48-like carbapenemase OXA-436. [PDF]
The crystal structure of the class D β-lactamase OXA-436 was solved to a resolution of 1.80 Å. Higher catalytic rates were found at higher temperatures for the clinically important antibiotic imipenem, indicating better adaptation of OXA-436 to its mesophilic host than OXA-48, which is believed to originate from an environmental source.

First Isolates of OXA-48-Like Carbapenemase-Producing Enterobacteriaceae in A Specialized Cancer Center. [PDF]
OXA-48-like carbapenemases have been found in a growing and varied number of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae (CPE) isolates, and they are spreading to several countries. Although this oxacillinase leads to weak resistance to carbapenems without affecting broad-spectrum cephalosporin activity, when they are associated with other resistance ...

Emergence of OXA-48-like producing Citrobacter species, Germany, 2011 to 2022. [PDF]
Background Carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales are a public health threat worldwide and OXA-48 is the most prevalent carbapenemase in Germany and western Europe. However, the molecular epidemiology of OXA-48 in species other than Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae remains poorly understood.

Electrostatic interactions influence diazabicyclooctane inhibitor potency against OXA-48-like β-lactamases. [PDF]
The OXA-48 β-lactamase protects bacteria from carbapenem antibiotics; with activity affected by sequence variation. We show variation to affect susceptibility towards diazabicyclooctane (DBO) inhibitors, dependent upon the inhibitor C2 substituent.

Characterisation of OXA-48-like carbapenemases in Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae from North India. [PDF]
The oxacillinase-48 (OXA-48)-like carbapenemases are class D β-lactamases and increasingly reported in Enterobacterial species. The detection of these carbapenemases is challenging and little information is available on the epidemiology and plasmid characteristics of OXA-48-like carbapenemase producers.
